First Assignment

  My relationship with art is that I appreciate most art. The message might not always appeal to me, but I enjoy looking at a piece and contemplating what the artist might have thought and/or felt. For a few years, I attended First Friday events with artwork that appealed to me. When I travel, I enjoy graffiti art and am sometimes able to see a sculpture piece in a garden or two. My paintings are not appreciated by traditional artists. The form I enjoy is abstract and modern.

 This piece is done by CJ Shapiro. This piece reminds me that not everyone can express what they are going through. It is a hard topic to discuss, but art forces a dialog. I have found that this is part of a bigger collection of "Reproductive Rights".


 Another piece I enjoy is from the movie Wall Street Money Never Sleeps. The placement in the movie really invoked a wonder of how it looks to see in person. I also wondered what the artist was feeling as he created this artwork. I have seen some other Francisco Goya works, however this is the only piece I enjoy of his works.

    Goya had a series of very dark works. This was one of his "black paintings" that were murals in his home. They were later taken off the walls and made into individual paintings.
